“There is a distinct aura to her artistry. Her technical execution is flawless, her creativity just magical” - Val Garland
Rapidly developing a reputation for genuine artistic originality delivered with inimitable personal quirk, Chereine Waddell was voted Make-Up Artist of the Year at the 2016 Australian Hair Fashion Awards, being placed number one on the judge’s scorecard of none other than global industry icon Val Garland.
With a strong background in fashion, fine arts and SFX it was Chereine’s innate understanding and appreciation for colour, design and technique that initially drove her into a career in makeup. Now, with a very holistic approach to her craft, Chereine oscillates fluidly between commercial and creative editorial work, working alongside esteemed Hair Fashion and Beauty photographers for fashion, film and theatre projects.
A strong advocate for knowledge sharing and story telling, teaching has always played an important part in Chereine’s vocational path. A 4-year tenure at The Mask Academy in Sydney saw Chereine take on the role of Make Up Educator charged with the cultivation of the next gen, whilst her current post at The Look Academy in Darlinghurst sees her orchestrate weekly Personal Make Up Master classes for the everyday woman.
Most recently appointed as a Brand Affiliate for luxe brand La Biosthetique, today Chereine is the go-to for the brand’s local hair fashion activations and industry education whilst supporting their impressive pool of hair artists on shoots and fashion events.
Challenging artistic boundaries with efficiency, skill and balance, Chereine inspires and excites the senses by enhancing beauty in its many forms, the boundaries of imagination the only ceiling to her creative thought processes. While her signature looks are bold and sometimes daring, her ability to simultaneously create stunningly fresh and flawless faces positions her at the forefront of beauty shoot appointments and eagerly engaged by photographers who insist on complexion perfection prior to postproduction.
Spirited and youthful, yet consummately professional Chereine works tirelessly on set whilst invoking a real sense of calm amongst the broader creative team. In 2017 this talented MUA is set to launch her first book entitled Beyond Makeup.

Hayley has 17 years’ experience working in the fashion industry as a hairdresser and makeup artist. She began her career young, developing hairdressing skills at the Servilles Academy, where she won the Outstanding Student Award.
From there, Hayley went on to become a qualified hairdresser at one of New Zealand’s most prestigious hair salons, Servilles Newmarket. There Hayley was lucky enough to work alongside some of the best hairdressers in the country, and won the L’Oréal Color Trophy Team Award, became a member of the L’Oréal Creative Team and an Advocate for Matrix.
Deciding to expand her industry skills, Hayley studied makeup artistry, becoming a freelance makeup artist, both under her own name and for MAC Cosmetics, eventually taking on the Retail Manager role for MAC.
During this time, Hayley travelled New Zealand and internationally, working on photoshoots and annually supporting New Zealand Fashion Week on numerous designers shows, including Stolen Girlfriends Club, Huffer, Zambesi, Twenty Seven Names and Trelise Cooper.
In 2015, Hayley was the key makeup artist and led the D&M hairdressing team for Exhibithair at Fashion Week. Hayley has also designed shows for AUT Rookie and has really enjoyed the privilege of working with new, young designers as they complete their fashion studies.
